Emergency Preparation Planning
IT'S HERE! The first in a series of short video clips on Emergency Preparation on Fox Island is available on our YouTube Channel. Take a look and contact us at info@ficra.org with your comments and questions. We will be posting new videos about every other month going into specific subjects like food preparation and storage for an emergency, neighborhoods working together in dire circumstances, what our triage capabilities are, and more. So keep your eye on ficra.org and the monthly FICRA e-mail newsletters for upcoming videos.

The Emergency Preparedness Team, including our Citizen’s Patrol, was created by the FICRA Building Trust to help ensure Fox Island residents can manage a significant emergency like a bridge closure, major earthquake or major storm.  The Team has prepared and continues to update an Emergency Preparation Plan for Fox Island.

On June 8, 2016, our Emergency Preparation Team participated in an emergency response drill testing preparedness for a major earthquake. About 40 FICRA Team members took part in the Cascadia Rising exercise, along with the Pierce County Department of Emergency Management and other local, state and federal agencies. The Tacoma News Tribune published an online video highlighting Fox Island's preparations prior to the drill.

The FICRA Building Trust has provided and continues to provide financial support for ongoing planning efforts, but your help is also needed. You can volunteer to assist in the planning effort. You can provide financial support to continue this important endeavor by donating to the FICRA Building Trust online via PayPal.  You can also mail your donation to FICRA Building Trust Emergency Preparation Fund, PO Box 25, Fox Island, WA, 98333, or donate at the annual FICRA Fair.
