Pierce County issued a Stage 1 burn ban in June. Under the Stage 2 burn ban, no outdoor burning is permitted, including recreational burn pits, backyard fire pits, or backyard fireplaces, in unincorporated Pierce County.

Charcoal in grills, gas and propane grills and heaters, and pellet grills/smokers are allowed if they are on a non-combustible surface.

Residents of incorporated Pierce County cities and towns are encouraged to contact their local jurisdiction for burn requirements.
