Project Manger’s Report (Jim): The Capital Expenditures Report is part of this report, and it has additional project update information. Board members are asked to look at that report and develop an opinion on the priorities there.
Building and Grounds: The Emergency Prep AM broadcasting equipment supplier/advisor, Information Station Specialists (ISS) has submitted the FCC application. We have the signed letter of agreement from the Gig Harbor Fire Department and positioning data included in the application.
The new NCC garage tenant has signed the contract and moved in.
Nature Center (NC) (Ed Burrough, Chair): We are looking forward to when the FICRA Board installs the new signs. Do we have plans for this?
Emergency Preparedness (EP): Family and neighborhood emergency preparation continues to be the primary focus for 2026. The Emergency Prep website (fi-ready.org)/prepare in a year) for February stresses your emergency action plan, the rule of 3 and staying warm.
Neighborhood Watch: Sheriff Deputy report is the same as December – basically a crime free month.
FIARC: The Fox Island Amateur Radio Club conducted ham radio and GMRS radio drill on Saturday, February 7th. More lessons were learned. The next step is to install a repeater antenna at the NCC to strengthen the signal so neighborhoods can communicate both internally and with other neighborhoods.
Other Projects: Rick Baze requested an additional $10per hour for the upkeep of his mower, edger, etc. Other discussion topics include budget status, election nominations and water main break.
Previous/Ongoing Business
Audit Committee Update (Hal): Currently the 2025 audit is on hold while members of the committee are out-of-town and will resume in April.
Ghostlight Theater (Candy): They begin rehearsals late in February. Their performance schedule runs from April 25- May 17th. This production is an all-female “Odd Couple”. They have asked if they could once again have brunch for the Mother’s Day performance like we did last year. FICRA provided the lunch but was reimbursed by Ghostlight. No decision has been made at this time.
FICRA Signage Update: Item moved to March Board Meeting (no Jacob or Craig)
GHHS Scholarship Donation (Candy): We have turned in our donation form. A check needs to be paid to the Scholarship committee before April 1, 2026. Generally, we can review applications at the end of March.
FICRA Fundraising Event (Candy): Plans are on schedule. Food order is made approximately two weeks ahead of the event and delivered to Harbor Greens to refrigerate until pick up on Saturday, February 28th. The Ikonos order has been placed with pickup scheduled for Friday, February 27th. The bar items have been purchased. Other items needed will be purchased locally. Silent and live auctions are still coming in.
New Business
Items “tabled” until the March FICRA meeting include: a talent show competition, FICRA yard sale (Dannie McLaughlin has volunteered to lead this endeavor), fall blood drive, the 2026 budget approval, and candidates presented for Board positions.
A nominating committee for Board positions has been named. Candy and Arlyn will bring forth candidates interested in Board positions at the March 12th Board meeting. Candy will also sent out communications on email, website, and social media that Board positions are available and nominees can also come from the floor at the April 9th meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 8:43 PM
Next FICRA Board Meeting is scheduled for April 9, 2026 at 7:00pm in the Nichols Community Center.
Respectfully submitted by Candy Wawro, FICRA Board Secretary
